Startup Montréal: Web advertising & podcast to promote female entrepreneurship

The need for visibility for women entrepreneurs

Caroline Quijoux, Events and Communications Advisor at Startup Montréal, was looking to highlight their brand new Founders program, whose mission was to support women's entrepreneurship.

Her goal was to create a promotional campaign using the power of video as a medium to inspire other women to go into business after the COVID-19 crisis. So Caroline turned to Machiavel Studios to highlight women entrepreneurs and give them the visibility they needed to inspire others!

Problem: The importance of inspiring role models

According to Statistics Canada, by 2023, only 17.7% of businesses in Canada will be owned by women. Caroline and her team knew that to help more women get started in entrepreneurship, they needed to expose them to the inspiring stories of those who had succeeded.

"With initiatives to encourage female entrepreneurship, it was essential to visually show successful female entrepreneurs .

It was a way of showing role models to women who still doubted their ability to start their own business," explains Caroline.

The challenge was to find a creative way to showcase these women entrepreneurs and allow Startup Montreal to connect emotionally with their target audience. Decidedly, a video campaign was the best way to get their message across!

Solution: Machiavelli's ingenious approach

Our video agency was able to come up with innovative concepts, whatever the project. Whether for their series of video podcasts for the Founders program or Recharge, another initiative stemming from the same mission, which supported female entrepreneurs owning a business under 5 years old.

Promotional video produced by Machiavel Studios for the Recharge initiative.

"As part of the programs to support women, we called on the Machiavel studio several times. It was fun because it was always consistent. In the end, our promotional campaigns were similar, and it was perfect to ensure consistency across all our women's entrepreneurship programs," Caroline points out.

Results: Increased visibility and emotional impact

The promotional videos produced raised the profile of the participating entrepreneurs and contributed to an increase in registrations for their initiatives.

"We saw an increase in registrations for the program because we had finally given so much visibility to entrepreneurs. It was a bit of a snowball effect, with all the entrepreneurs sharing their stories with their network, and it encouraged many, many people to sign up for the program," says Caroline.

"We saw the vulnerability of people really talking for real about their real human issues, and it was a very emotional time," shares Caroline.

These deep conversations connected with future participants, but also with the public who viewed the videos.

Conclusion: Recommendation and customer satisfaction

"I would recommend Machiavel Studios to anyone, because they were a pleasure to work with. You really feel like you're talking to people who have a deep interest in your project.

So I'd recommend it to anyone with a really ambitious project, even one that's a bit vague at times, who needs someone to: support them, be a bit creative in coming up with ideas, while obviously respecting the budget and the time", she asserts.

Our ability to combine a human approach with professional communication made all the difference to the Startup Montreal experience. The videos produced for their promotional campaigns successfully supported their messages and exceeded their expectations.
